Wells of Joy

In the heart of the Lunga Lunga slums in Nairobi, Kenya you will find Wells of Joy Ministries. Wells of Joy was founded by Pastor Geoffrey Mutunga who had a heart for the slum people and a vision to establish a church. With this vision, Pastor Geoffrey began to minister to these people that society might call helpless, worthless. And from this willing heart God began to do a work in the Lunga Lunga slum. Now, Wells of Joy isn't just a church it has grown to include a school of approx. 250 children.

After visiting Wells of Joy this past July, I was very touched as Pastor Geoffrey expressed many of the needs that the school is facing. The need for more space as the school is continuing to grow. The need for a bus because some of the children have to walk long distances to get there. The need for sponsors for the children. The need for school supplies and food to feed the children. These things can quickly become overwhelming when you look at all that needs to be done. Like where do you start? What is the most important need? How can I help most? When these questions come, I have to remind myself of 2 Cor. 3:5, "Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God,".
